Hope Solo

Poster in Context

to create a 2 by 4 foot data visualization poster showcasing an olympian as the hero, with their story and statistics.

I collaborated with Kylie Della on the illustrations, creating the line work with Photoshop brushes and handing them off to her for underpainting. We both did research on statistics, illustrated icons, and I organized the poster into its final layout.

Our target audience was young soccer fans, particularly girls who look up to Hope Solo as a bold, athletic, female role model.

We let bold, dynamic illustrations of Hope Solo fill the majority of the poster, rather than discussing her controversial personality through text. We focussed on her world records as a player, her remarkable pattern of shutouts, and her origins as a “Washington Homegirl.”
